Market Recap for Monday, August 15th, 2016 Stocks got off to a nice start this week. Rallying overnight, the major indices were higher at the open. And the buying continued throughout the morning session. There was a bit of a pullback in the afternoon, but it wasn’t enough to keep the major indices from ending the day with new all-time highs. At the end of day the S&P, DOW, and NASDAQ all had new records – a feat that has only happened twice since 1999. In fact, it was the 19th day in a row that the S&P moved less than 1% in either direction! If there was a highlight of the day, it came late morning when the NASDAQ and S&P made new record highs. But after breaking into uncharted territory stocks slipped lower and finished the day flat. Here’s where the major indices ended the day: The S&P finished flat. Up […]
Market Recap for Monday, August 8th, 2016 Stocks got off to a slow start this week and finished the day slightly lower. The S&P traded in less than an 8 point range, one of the smallest ranges of the year. Although the S&P was range bound, the S&P did manage to make a new record high before drifting lower and ending the day with a small loss. Here’s where the major indices ended the day: The S&P finished 0.1% lower. Down 2 points, the S&P ended at 2,181. The DOW ended with a 0.1% loss. Dropping 14 points, the DOW closed at 18,529. The NASDAQ was down 0.2%. With […]
